His new album, Beauty Land, serves as his debut LP for Dead Oceans, featuring a narrator who balances cynicism with faith. The album consists of self-effacing pop melodies and urgent guitars, mostly recorded directly to tape in Mendez’s home studio. This release follows his 2023 self-titled breakthrough and continues his exploration of grief, love, and addiction with intense clarity.
