Chicago born Richard Marx is a singer-songwriter and record producer who has sold over 30 million records throughout his career. He made history as the first solo artist to have his first seven singles reach the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Marx began his career at age five singing commercial jingles. At 17, his talent was recognized by Lionel Richie, leading to a session singing career with icons like Madonna and Whitney Houston before he transitioned into a successful songwriting and solo career. His self-titled 1987 debut sold nearly four million copies in the US, followed by the triple-platinum Repeat Offender, which featured the number one hits Satisfied and Right Here Waiting.
