Depuis 2006, la chanteuse Simona Parrinello et le pianiste Gianluca Di Ienno collaborent pour créer un jazz contemporain influencé par Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn et Kenny Wheeler. Pour leur projet ‘Awaken’, ils sont rejoints par le batteur Alessandro Rossi et le contrepoint de Michelangelo Scandroglio. Cet ensemble privilégie les textures électroniques, l'improvisation et les silences, tout en intégrant des adaptations poétiques de Maya Angelou ou Emily Dickinson.
