An underground, nostalgic afrobeat night.
Mamady Kouyate and his Mandingo Ambassadors perform their signature Afrocentric sound every Wednesday. A former guitarist for Guinea's legendary Bembeya Jazz, Kouyate relocated to the US in the early 2000s to form this ensemble. The music draws heavily from the classic 1970s Sylliphone recording style, featuring complex vocal and guitar patterns over a tight rhythm section.
