It's had various turns and twists that you'd expect, but also some that you wouldn't. It's a romcom, a thriller, and a good love story that shows that, in many cases, love transcends beauty, age, or personal preferences. What struck me most about the film was how it gave me a sense of what it must be like to experience the world through a blind person's perspective. The blurred background (or bokeh) also serves to highlight the emotional distance between our protagonist and the individuals around him. In addition, we observe that Braille is used throughout the entire film, from the opening credits to specific scenes. The acting is solid overall, and Petri Poikolainen's portrayal as the film's protagonist is particularly noteworthy. It turns out that the actor has the same difficulties as our protagonist, but despite this, he does a great job of conveying the character's feelings and thoughts, as well as those of the audience, and of developing the tender relationship between the guy and the beautiful stranger. All in all, a beautiful and at times tense film that everyone should see in large part thanks to its very good performances. Thanks to totti for putting it on my radar.TODAY SCHEDULEFulltime KillerFat Choi SpiritMy Eye Sees A GhostThe Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic

Petri Poikolainen (an actually blind actor with multiple sclerosis!!) gives such a charming, heartwarming and fun performance in this otherwise extremely distressing thriller. This film follows a blind cinephile with MS, who faces the cruelty of society and a painful amount of ableism in a world that isn't designed for people like him, when leaving his home on his own to meet his long-distance girlfriend. Instead of the usual disabled 'inspiration porn', The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic instead points a mirror at the able-bodied people who are the cause of these situations by shutting out disabled people from society.Finnish director Teemu Niki somehow manages to create an even more sensory experience than recent films like Sound of Metal and The Father. We really need more films like this! True representation! Check this one out whenever you can! It's a shame that this wasn't in any competitive selection at Venice, because it's definitely deserving of many accolades!
