More people need to love Donald O’Connor
Bill Benson and Ted Adams are to appear in a Broadway show together and, while in Paris, each 'discovers' the perfect leading lady for the plum female role. Each promises the prize role to the girl they selected without informing the other until they head back across the Atlantic by liner - with each man having brought his choice along! It becomes a stormy crossing as each man has to tell his 'find' that she might not get the role after all.

Don't know what long dead Hollywood execs need to hear this, but Donald O'Connor can be a romantic lead without Bing Crosby dragging down the movie
i finally watched this for a variety of reasons: 1) i love donald o’connor and will watch him in anything, 2) i have been obsessed with the song “anything goes” for days now—specifically patti lupone’s iconic performance of it at the tonys and most importantly, 3) to honor mitzi gaynor. it’s crazy, i first saw mitzi in there’s no business like show business probably 7 or so years ago when i was first getting into marilyn monroe. despite me only watching that movie once almost a decade ago, i have never stopped thinking about mitzi gaynor since then. i fell in love with her smile, charisma, amazing humor, and insane amount of talent. she was the very definition of a triple threat and it always made me so happy to remember that she was one of the last remaining old hollywood stars. i don’t really understand why paramount decided to make another film version of anything goes and then……just made it not even remotely related to the play lmao, but it was cute and fun, and of course, mitzi shined. i loved watching her perform “anything goes” and fall in love with donald o’connor. congrats to bing crosby for also getting some real laughs out of me, btw. rest in peace mitzi and i can’t wait to finally explore the rest of your filmography. 🤍
