"Look at all them skulls!"A fun Evil Dead rip-off with some pretty not bad blood n gore with some decent stop motion that didn't take itself too serious (or at all!) there's even a Evil Dead 2 poster on the wall of the cabin/shed so you know where it's coming from."Look at my chili!"Well if you like music then they have you covered, in fact the whole movie is covered from start to finish in it and if there's a soundtrack available (wouldn't have thought so?) then it's gonna have to come in a boxset of about 20 cd's just non stop music to the point where some of the time you can't hear any of the dialogue!"That's really bad!"Just so you know (whether you want to or not) the wendigo guardian looked like a cross between Grandpa Sawyer from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Frank Barone from Everyone loves Raymond (not every family goes by on a conveyor belt, but mine does because ...)

"Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo" is crazed horror film released by Troma in 1995 but actually was filmed in 1988. Starting off the story with a pair of idiots doing early morning drinking and shooting, the two trespass on sacred land belonging to an old man who is keeping an ancient evil creature in containment, the Wendigo. Obviously, in complete moronic fashion that is necessary to keep any crazed movie such as this moving forward, the evil is awakened, and unrelenting terror is released. One would expect typical fun monster movie to progress from here, but things become completely self-aware within efforts of horror and comedy, really culminating in an experience that is a blast for the viewer. Easily, most are quick to acknowledge the homage to "Evil Dead" (1981) within most of the interior shots, but even as the film even has a poster for "Evil Dead 2" (1987) on the wall of one of the scenes, "Frostbiter" still is uniquely an element within its own. The is an abundance of stop motion mayhem that brakes through working as a continual change of pace from the interior-based mayhem, and as everything switches back-and-forth, things consistently stay fresh. The film is brilliantly goofy as well. Knowing that Troma films can slightly be a little over the top and that of "Evil Dead" can somewhat be the same, the film blends the slightly different tones together for a perfect immersion. Also included is some very slight hints of 80's fantasy in its application of telling folkloric prosperities, in which I was strangely reminded of something similar to a sword and sorcery film from that era. Finally, while all of crazy concoction-based blend of madness unfolds in front of us, we get this excellently driven soundtrack to go full steam ahead with the narrative it is trying to circulate. The themes switch from Metal to something that is an homage to the artist Prince, so to this bizarre creation that sounds like a mix between progressive Super Nintendo music and a CD of Pure Moods with Native American pan flute music flying at your face. All this comes with not one, but two feature songs about chili, as the dish of chili becomes a centralized topic within the film. Easily one of the most fun viewing experiences that does goofy horror to the utmost of refinement. Do yourself a favor and get this film in, it's a blast, and might especially be better with friends.

The Important Cinema Club Super Scary Movie Challenge#20 - An Evil Dead Rip-OffA delightful EVIL DEAD rip-off that goes full-on EQUINOX style monster fest - this thing is stuffed with stop-motion monsters, miniatures and gooey gore. No build-up or suspense, but lots of farting puppets and rainbow coloured gel lighting. It deserves to be in the regular winter season rotation for horror fans in freezing climates. I wonder why this hasn't been released by Vinegar Syndrome (who seems to have access to the Troma catalogue). Could it be a music rights issue? The film is wall-to-wall original songs, to the point that they often drown out the dialogue, and they often comment literally on the action happening on-screen.There are TWO songs about chilli. TWO CHILLI SONGS!
