Stilted and wooden in every sense.
Part of my list of movies with the word MURDER in their titlesGlen Athol , it seems, is a real and ritzy suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. Is that relevant herein? Nope! Nothing is mentioned relating to this B movie's title in the film, nor are the characters supposed to South African. This detective story has some decent acting in it, though and John Miljan (as detective Bill Holt) certainly holds everything together as the plot unfolds, making this quite watchable. The ending could have been executed better and Holt's helper (played by James P. Burtis) is pretty much a moron and is very annoying ---and the first scene of this movie featuring this helper guy is probably the worst in this otherwise above average 64 minute B murder mystery. 5.5/10 (ignoring the first scene)
Summer of Trash Challenge - 48/95 - 85. Watch a movie that features a house party.Party notwithstanding it's just kinda dreary. The solution to the central mystery might've been a surprise if the script and characters hadn't been so dull, and the settings so nondescript. After the verve of The Vampire Bat Thayer seems to be powering down in anticipation of helming the Blondie franchise.
