tribeca 25 #3usually find these making of an album pseudo-documentary films just okay… but in the first 10 minutes there’s a conversation between sara, the keyboardist and guitarist and they are talking about trying for kids, ivf, and how hard it’s been - as someone that has had friends go through this and why it’s not happening it hit hard. a good set up for the rest of the tone of the album

i don’t know that i have it in me to accurately convey the experience of seeing this film in a packed theatre followed by a live performance from sara, but i will say that i sobbed like a baby. sara’s work has gotten me through some of my darkest moments and colored some of the most important periods of my life. to see her express such raw honesty through not just her music but also throughout the filming of this doc is an insane level of vulnerability.seeing her perform new work for the first time in seven years was so meaningful and i am so grateful to have gotten to bear witness. i am 21 and 14 and 5 and everything before, after, and in between and life is beautiful and scary and incredible and i fucking love sara bareilles!!sorry this is all over the place and poorly worded
