One of mom's favorites, reason being because of all the locations and events that Cantinflas gets into in this one.The first Cantinflas in color and they didn't waste any time in showcasing a certain picture of Mexico. Cantinflas spends his time throughout the city, visits zoos, rose gardens, goes to a club show (performs in one of the funniest scenes), and goes to Acapulco and the beach. The colors pop! Whether it's the red from the costumes of the showgirls or the bright, blue water on the beach. The film feels like a breezy, ongoing vacation. Add a small child as Cantinflas's companion and I can see why my mom loves this so much.There's a relatability factor here as for the longest times, the only way my mom would travel to fancy places was as a babysitter tagging alonside the families she worked for to take care of their kids. She was at the beach, but she was working. She went to the museums, but she was working. (Only domestic trips, too, mind you)Cantinflas, similarly, in the film spends a lot of time in these locations working. He's a shoe shiner, the vacation route he takes is ripe with opportunity for labor. Construction worker, life guard, janitor, etc.The comedy comes from how awful he is at all the jobs he picks up. The joke is that he's having fun in all these spots BECAUSE he's so bad at his jobs.Add in the usual clever dialogue and 'El bolero de Raquel' (another play on words that pays off in that iconic dance number) is a fun romp that skews more towards a family-comedy looking for an easy, good time.
