2026 RankedDirector Guy Moshe is clearly trying to make a statement about the human toll war takes beyond the fighting itself, but The Fix constantly sabotages itself. Liam Neeson is typically dependable as stalwart Larry, and Elnaaz Norouzi really impresses as Zara. Zachary Levi, on the other hand was outstanding.That being said, there are way too many layers to the plot - jobs within jobs, a rescue mission, a budding relationship, an act of betrayal - and not enough time to make them all matter. It's slickly made and proudly R-rated, but at 142 minutes, it could really stand to lose 20-30 minutes of slow passages. Passable, but won't leave much of an impression. There might have been a good movie in here with a talented filmmaker, but this convoluted mess is actual so boring. It's actually impressive to make a military action drama that actually drains the energy out of action sequences. Zachary Levi is the commander of a military squad in Afghanistan as the war is closing out, whose final mission goes bad and he and his squad are relieved and Liam Neeson shows up as his superior who gets pushed into retirement because of his health. Following a time jump, Levi is now running a private militia and pulls all his former squad mates into a complicated plan in Iran to find a hidden stash of cash while running a rescue mission for a journalist as a cover. As the film weaves it's story around all these characters, we get various allegiances and back stabs through the 2 and a half hour runtime that felt even longer. A veteran who is disillusioned with the United States and takes private contractor work could be an interesting premise but it never digs into this beyond some unresolved guilt that is barely addressed. Afghani and Iranian characters are hollow caricatures that don't offer anything but a villain. Gosh, what a slog.

Was actually into The Fix for most of it's 140 minute runtime. Suspenseful. Good commentary on the American way of showing ""appreciation" and "thanks" to it's allies and soldiers. Very different seeing Zachary Levi in a totally serious role. Had it at a solid three and a half, maybe even four stars until some unnecessary and frankly dumb plot twists derailed the last act.Also it probably doesn't need saying but if you're planning on watching it for Liam Neeson he's in the movie for a grand total of about 15 minutes.
