Score : 9/10 ✅Seen at Fantasia International Film Festival 2026 -We came here to kill him, not save his life… Imagine the premise of It Was Just an Accident (but funnier + with the dramatic elements dialed down a notch), and then imagine a narrative that opts for an inverted situation at the moment things go sideways. That’s our movie here, but thanks to the cinema’s possibilities; this movie is much more than that and is going places to entertain the heck out of its audience.I have brought up these distinctions so we can acknowledge that The Journey to Gyeong-ju is really trying its hardest to juggle its comedic and dramatic effect in inspiring heights. This is a movie in complete command of its tonal shift. I mean, it’s not a revolutionary effort, but it puts the movie in a great category of well-thought filmmaking. The important thing to note here is how the family gathering isn’t argumentative about whether or not the suspect deserves it. They’re all pretty much on the same page. It’s just that they aren’t quite sure about the when, where, and how. It sure resonates in their minds that they should have discussed this earlier, but it also gives time for the killer to react. And that’s the funny thing; time is on their side, until it’s not.So yeah, I absolutely loved that movie. Highly recommended.
