City Wolf emerged from a small downtown Los Angeles apartment in the summer of 2018. Clayton Stroope, a former VH1 You Oughta Know artist and the vocalist and songwriter of the US Gold selling, and Top 40 charting piano-based pop band Thriving Ivory wanted to stretch his legs and take a departure from the familiar. Clayton grew up listening to the harsh programmed drum samples of Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode, but absorbed vocal influence from emotive pop singers like Rob Thomas, George Michael, and Prince. His desire to combine these ingredients onto one musical canvas led him to the door of veteran Los Angeles producer TheUnder. The two immediately hit the ground running and recorded a six song EP which was released by Los Angeles based publishing house and licensing firm Riptide Music Group. The self-titled City Wolf EP soon gained wider distribution into the sync licensing market landing licensing placements with Netflix, Hulu, Activision, Fox Sports, and Marvel. In 2020 City Wolf teamed up with veteran rapper Easy McCoy to form a collaborative project signed to Position Music. Their debut record is set to be released in the Spring of 2021. City Wolf is currently working on second solo record with producer/writer Tim Myers, one of the founding members of One Republic. This project with Position Music is scheduled to be tentatively released in the Summer of 2021.
City Wolf blends emotive rock vocals with programmed electronic drums, drawing influences from alternative rock and pop, and is known for his work with Riptide Music Group.
