Elif Burgaz

"Elif’s strength lies in her naive style of storytelling combined with her rebellious energy.” Elif is a composer, singer-songwriter, and pianist based in Barcelona, originally from Izmir, Turkey. As a child, she composed songs even before learning to play an instrument. After moving to Barcelona, she introduced her first EP, "Dreamwalker," in November 2020. Produced by Edu Martinez, the EP featured songs she had accumulated over the years. Her songs, presented with a melancholic and sincere expression both as a lyricist and a composer, attained a rich musical background with the piano taking the lead role, complemented by strings, Turkish percussions, drums, vibraphone, horn, ney, and synthesizer touches. While classical and cinematic music influences are prominent in her style, traces of her home country's music can also be felt. Elif composed "Hortum" in 2020 due to the effects of the pandemic and released her second EP in 2022. In the EP "Hortum," her longing for her country took center stage, with the piano and strings assuming leading roles in her songs. Elif's 3rd EP, "A Sky Full of Stories," features 5 instrumental tracks. These pieces, which serve as the soundtrack to her experiences and emotions, are presented in a cinematic language. In this album, where the piano takes the lead role, the darbuka, clarinet, flute, vibraphone, and strings also accompany. In these wordless songs, one can feel not only sorrow but also hope and peace.
