Jake Long

Jake Long is a London-based drummer, producer, mixing engineer and bandleader whose music bridges Jazz, Rock, Electronic Dance Music, and Sound System Culture. Jake has performed and recorded alongside some of the world’s most respected artists including Gary Bartz, Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Nala Sinephro, Oscar Jerome, Theon Cross, Rosie Turton, Zara McFarlane, Joe Armon-Jones, and Turkish percussionist Okay Temiz. In 2024, he released his debut solo album City Swamp on New Soil, following the 2023 release of his track Crescent (City Swamp Dub) on the Total Refreshment Centre compilation for Blue Note Records offering a glimpse into a bold, genre-blending personal sound. Jake’s previous band Maisha released their debut EP Welcome To A New Welcome with Jazz Re:Freshed in 2016, followed by the critically acclaimed album There Is A Place on Brownswood Recordings in 2018, and another EP for the label in 2020. In 2019, Long was invited by Gilles Peterson to assemble a band to perform with saxophone legend Gary Bartz at We Out Here Festival and London’s Royal Festival Hall. This collaboration evolved into a direct-to-disc recording session for Night Dreamer records, reshaping Maisha once again. In the years that followed, Long deepened his work as a producer and mixing engineer, developing his craft through self-taught studio experimentation and collaborations. And produced several EP for Clara Serra Lopez released with Real World Records.
