A nostalgic, underground classical artist.
Born in rural Estonia, Kadri`s interest in singing has taken her on a journey from the baroque to the modern era on which she has discovered the different ways of using her instrument by adapting it to the repertoire. As a singer who feels at home in opera as well as oratorio, chamber music and folk music, she found the love for dissolving the borders between different art forms and collaborating with artists from different genres. Laula! is the first collaborative album by Kadri Tegelmann, Mike Fentross and Maarten Ornstein and is released on Zefir Records and is a collection of folksongs combined with an equivalent from the baroque era and are about events from the cycle of life, such as birth, marriage, lullabies, leaving and returning home, and death. These universal themes have been used in art for centuries all over the world, and they are the starting point for the choice of music in this project, Laula!
Kadri Tegelmann performs classical, baroque, and early music blended with Estonian folk traditions, utilizing chamber arrangements featuring historical instruments like the theorbo.
