Klawo

Klawo (/ˈklʌvɔ/) is a six-piece alternative jazz unit formed in 2020 in Gdańsk, Poland. Deeply rooted in the spirit of the 1970s - when funk, soul, fusion, and psychedelia were still too young to know they were separate genres - Klawo blends old-school approach with a modern sensibility of post-Dilla jazz, indie, and electronic music. On May 29, 2026, Klawo released “Live at Montreux” - a live album accompanied by a full concert film recorded during the band’s performance at The Memphis stage at Montreux Jazz Festival 2025. The live album features nine tracks based primarily on material from the band’s second LP, “2 bobry i zachód słońca”, this time presented in new, more open and performance-driven arrangements. Rather than recreating the studio recordings, the material captures the tension, improvisation and energy that only emerge in a live setting. The collective’s two greatly received studio records, as well as highly energetic live shows, have granted them a place in line-ups of some of the major European festivals and venues, including a sold out show at London’s Ronnie Scott’s (UK) and performances at Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), Eurosonic/Noorderslag (HOL), Fusion Festival (GER) and Off Festival (PL) among others. In 2025 the band made its live debut in Japan, with two performances at Sound Culture: Poland x Japan Music Festival in Osaka, accompanied by a release of the Osaka Cuts EP.
