Lomie Kavalier

Soon-to-be Hollywood icon Lomie Kavalier sold her soul to the devil as a zealous teenager overly dedicated to the power of rock 'n' roll, with a love ranging from The Ronettes to Slowdive to Jeff Rosenstock. Exploring themes of post-college depression, saying the wrong thing at the right time, and roadside memorials, Kavalier is releasing her debut album, “I’ll Be Your Man.” Recorded in a Joshua Tree Airbnb with friends from all over the country and produced by collaborator/roommate Marina Fleming using borrowed drums and recording equipment, the DIY, self-funded, coming-of-age album displays an exciting and anxious sonic collage that blends and bends genres of folk, dream pop, and punk. After saving up every spare dollar she could scrape together, Kavalier rented the desert house on a conviction and a prayer, convincing her friends to fly and drive in from all corners of the country to make a record the old-fashioned way: live, loud, and in three days flat. With minimal overdubs and no time to overthink, the songs were captured in their rawest form—first takes, cracked voices, amps humming like they had something to confess. Kavalier is confident that this whole devil thing will work out—even if she may need an exorcism at some point. At least she hopes so, writing this broke, in her apartment.
