Papa San

Papa San (Tyrone Thompson) is a Jamaican-born artist whose career spans from dancehall stardom to global gospel influence. Rising to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s, he became known for his rapid fire delivery, chart topping hits, and signature sound that helped shape modern dancehall. Songs like “Maddy Maddy Cry,” “Legal Rights,” and “Style and Fashion” established him as one of the genre’s most skilled and respected voices. In 1997 Papa San surrendered his life to Christ. His transformation marked a new chapter as he transitioned from mainstream dancehall to gospel reggae, becoming a pioneer of the genre. His faith centered albums, including the Billboard topping One Blood, expanded his reach and influence across Christian and reggae communities worldwide. Papa San along with his wife Debbie, lead Our Father’s Kingdom International Ministries, where he continues to mentor, preach and teach God’s word that uplifts and inspires. Today, he remains a cultural icon—celebrated for his lyrical mastery, his testimony of redemption, and his commitment to sharing the message of Christ through music and ministry.
