A nostalgic, slow-burn classical piano night.
Acclaimed pianist Hélène Grimaud presents a program featuring the final piano sonatas of Beethoven and Schubert. These two monumental works represent peaks of the piano repertoire, from the dual nature of Beethoven's Op. 111 — which transitions from intense energy to a spiritual Arietta — to Schubert's expansive Sonata in B-flat major. Grimaud explores the vast emotional landscapes of these pieces, culminating in Schubert's profound Andante sostenuto, a movement that seems to transcend the physical limits of the piano.
