A nostalgic, slow-burn classical night.
Travelling across more than three centuries of music, the London Mozart Players present a programme where the past is never quite left behind. The concert features Vaughan Williams' beloved Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, a work that blurs the boundaries between Renaissance England and the twentieth century. The influence of Tallis continues in David Knotts’ From Crystal Heav’ns Above, a piece written for the evening's soloist Simon Blendis that traces a thread through centuries of English musical history. Haydn completes the time-travelling programme with his Symphony No. 64, ‘Tempora mutantur’, a work that masterfully subverts musical expectations.
