Organist Una Cintiņa presents a 31-tone contemporary classical program at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, exploring medieval themes and experimental organ music.
An ode to spring and summer in 31 tones: unconventional organist Una Cintiņa returns to the Fokker organ with a warm-blooded program centered around the oldest known polyphonic music in the world, the medieval canon Sumer is icumen in. Danish composer Ole Buck used this centuries-old theme in the 1970s as the basis for a mesmerizing organ work. Cintiņa follows with free improvisations on the 31-tone manual. Badings' Archifonica and a new work by Latvian Madara Pētersone complete this summer dish.
The concert features unconventional organist Una Cintiņa.
