Look Mum No DJ

Look Mum No DJ is the alter ego of contemporary music composer Andreas Paparrousos. It is a unique live project that moves between a concert, a club set and a performance. Starting from a set-up inspired by a church organ—three MIDI keyboards, MIDI bass pedals, switches, drum machine and vocoder—the artist creates an original form of one-man orchestra on stage. The role of the musician meets that of the DJ: the music gives the feeling that someone is behind the decks, while the image reveals that everything is performed live. The left hand takes over the rhythm through housey jazz chords, the right builds melodies and solos, while the feet create the synth bass lines that gradually transform the audience into dancers. The result is a hybrid musical idiom that could be described as psychedelic disco house: a live, physical and danceable experience, aiming to transfer the concert experience to the dance floor.
