A nostalgic classical night.
Französische Str. 33D, 10117 Berlin, Germany
In the first of two concerts by the Staatskapelle Berlin at the Pierre Boulez Saal, New Zealand conductor Gemma New makes her debut with the orchestra. Together with tenor Stephan Rügamer and hornist Ignacio García, she presents Benjamin Britten's Serenade, one of the most famous works written for tenor Peter Pears. Also on the program is Joseph Haydn's final symphony, which enjoyed significant success in London in 1795. The concert opens with the energetic work Strum by American composer Jessie Montgomery from 2012.
