RÛVEYDA - A RITUAL OF VOICE

UYKUDAN UYAN (AWAKEN FROM SLEEP) What happens when a voice becomes a place to remember? Born from Anatolian and Muslim heritage, singer, poet and vocal therapist Rûveyda creates intimate sonic landscapes where tradition, Sufism and personal memory meet. Her voice moves between tenderness and longing, prayer and improvisation, silence and song - inviting listeners into a space of deep listening and inner reflection. A Ritual of Voice is not conceived as a conventional concert, but as a temporary space of presence. At the heart of the evening is Rûveyda’s debut EP Uykudan Uyan - Awaken from Sleep, born from improvised songs and rooted in her earliest encounter with music: the tender sound of a mother singing her child into sleep. From this image unfolds a journey through lullaby and lament, devotion and grief, sleep and awakening. Compositions from the EP intertwine with vocal improvisations, poetry, breath and silence. Songs dissolve into prayers; prayers become melodies; memories emerge through the voice. The recurring call to awaken from sleep unfolds in many directions — toward forgotten parts of ourselves, toward childhood, toward grief and longing, toward one another, and toward the wounds we carry collectively. For one evening, the room becomes a space suspended between worlds. A place to listen not only to music, but to what lives beneath language - what the body remembers before the mind can understand. There is no story to resolve and no answer to arrive at. Only a voice, calling softly through the dark. A Ritual of Voice is an invitation to listen, remember, grieve, dream - and awaken together.
