The Matthew Liebeck Quartet is an international jazz ensemble based in Berlin, led by trumpeter and composer Matthew Liebeck. Drawing inspiration from the explorative spirit of Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet and the harmonic depth of Herbie Hancock's recordings, the group merges strong melodic writing with dynamic rhythms. Their sound is notably influenced by the aesthetics of golden-era drum and bass pioneers, shaping their unique approach to groove and form. The quartet presents their new album 'Wishes,' showcasing a musical perspective that bridges jazz tradition with contemporary innovation.
