’S Wonderful: Timeless Love Songs

From the dim lights of New York City jazz clubs to the glimmering marquees of old Hollywood, the Great American Songbook has illuminated some of the world’s most romantic and glamorous places. This Valentine’s Day, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra transports you to an era of swing rhythms and late-night theatrical love songs. Lush orchestral arrangements meet heart-melting melodies popularized by legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Billie Holiday. The program features classics such as 'So in Love', 'My Funny Valentine', and 'The Lady is a Tramp', brought to life by soloists Sumudu Jayatilaka and Iain Mackenzie under the baton of Richard Balcombe. It is an elegant afternoon defined by the songs that have shaped romance for generations.
