A slow-burn classical night.
With her physical and colorful music, Rebecca Saunders is one of the most popular composers of our time. Her latest work featured in this program requires four string quartets and two double basses. The German string ensemble Resonanz performs the Dutch premiere of Saunders' piece alongside "fleeting visions" by Sergei Prokofiev and a striking evocation of the Northern Lights by Peter Eötvös. Eötvös' Aurora is a unique double bass concerto where the solo bass forms a triangle with two prominent orchestral basses.
