The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain performs a program of Liszt, Adès, and Berlioz under the direction of Thomas Adès. The concert features Franz Liszt's Mephisto Waltz no. 1, Thomas Adès's Purgatorio, and concludes with Hector Berlioz's hallucinatory masterpiece, Symphonie fantastique. Known as the first truly Romantic score, Berlioz's work reflects his amorous obsessions through a vivid, orchestral narrative.
