A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
Christina Pluhar and her ensemble L’Arpeggiata invite us to the heart of 17th and 18th century Naples. Neapolitan popular music, long overshadowed by the erudite works of composers like Monteverdi and Vivaldi, contains treasures of invention and emotion. As the cradle of commedia dell’arte, this music influenced many popular operas and songs where life plays out in all its tragedy and truculence. Christina Pluhar and L’Arpeggiata have made the resurrection of this repertoire their specialty and passion.
