A Listening Journey: The History and Sound of Palestine with Hiba Salameh

Bloemstraat welcomes Haifa-born DJ, producer, and researcher Hiba Salameh for a special evening featuring a lecture, an immersive musical experience, and a DJ set. A Listening Journey explores the evolution of Palestinian music, spanning from 1920s folk songs to contemporary resistance and diaspora sounds. Utilizing original research and archival recordings, the event highlights how music preserves cultural identity and collective memory through displacement and struggle, moving from pre-Nakba rural chants to exile anthems and modern club music. Hiba Salameh is a multidisciplinary artist celebrated for blending rich Arabic musical traditions with global electronic sounds.
