Bboy-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Bboy music, often termed breaking music or breaks, originated in the 1970s Bronx as DJs isolated rhythmic percussion sections from funk, soul, and disco records to facilitate street dancing. The genre is defined by high-energy, syncopated drum breaks and a driving tempo typically between 110 and 135 BPM, often incorporating turntablism techniques like scratching. Its mood is intensely competitive and kinetic, prioritizing a physical, rhythmic pulse over melodic complexity or lyrical narratives. Historically, it serves as the sonic cornerstone of hip-hop culture, maintaining a direct semantic lineage from classic funk while influencing the development of electro and modern breakbeat genres.
