Drone Folk-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Emerging from the intersection of minimalist composition and traditional storytelling, drone folk evolved during the late 20th century as an experimental branch of the broader folk revival. The genre relies heavily on sustained, repetitive tones produced by acoustic instruments like harmoniums, hurdy-gurdies, and bowed guitars, often layered to create a thick, immersive sonic tapestry. Its rhythmic structure is typically static or free-form, prioritizing atmospheric resonance and slow-moving harmonic shifts over conventional percussive beats or melodic hooks. This results in a meditative, often somber or transcendental mood that sits semantically between the raw intimacy of acid folk and the expansive textures of dark ambient music.
