Indorock-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Emerging in the 1950s Netherlands, Indorock was pioneered by repatriated Indo-European musicians who fused American rock and roll with traditional Indonesian musical elements. The genre is defined by virtuosic lead guitar playing, often utilizing Fender Stratocasters and hollow-body instruments, accompanied by driving shuffle rhythms and theatrical stage presence. Its sound is characterized by a high-energy, nostalgic mood that bridges the gap between early rockabilly, surf music, and Dutch pop, often featuring intricate melodic lines inspired by kroncong. As a foundational movement in European rock history, it maintains a unique semantic position as a post-colonial cultural hybrid that predates the British Invasion's global dominance.
