Italian Jazz-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Italian jazz emerged in the early 20th century, evolving from initial American swing influences into a distinct style characterized by "cantabilità" and Mediterranean lyricism. Typical instrumentation features the standard jazz combo of piano, bass, and drums, frequently enriched by accordion or brass instruments to reflect the nation's rich operatic and folk heritage. The genre maintains a sophisticated yet emotive mood, balancing complex bebop rhythms with a melodic accessibility that distinguishes it from its more abstract American counterparts. Closely related to European chamber jazz and the Italian songbook, it prioritizes a melodic elegance that bridges the gap between traditional improvisation and lush, cinematic soundscapes.
