Jazz Drums-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Jazz drums emerged from early 20th-century New Orleans brass bands and ragtime, evolving into the sophisticated percussive backbone of the jazz genre. Typically centered around a standard acoustic drum kit comprising a snare, bass drum, hi-hats, and melodic ride cymbals, the style emphasizes a distinctive swing feel and polyrhythmic independence across all four limbs. Tempo ranges widely from slow, brush-led ballads to high-speed bebop sprints, maintaining a mood that balances improvisational spontaneity with technical precision. Semantically, it serves as the rhythmic engine for sub-genres like hard bop and cool jazz, bridging the gap between traditional African polyrhythms and Western orchestral percussion techniques through its unique focus on cymbals and syncopated comping.
