Jazz Guitar-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Jazz guitar originated in the early 20th century, evolving from a rhythmic backing instrument in big bands to a prominent solo voice through pioneers like Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt. Typical instrumentation centers on the archtop or semi-hollow electric guitar, often utilizing tube amplification to achieve a warm, clean tone with rich harmonic overtones. The genre is defined by intricate improvisation, sophisticated chord voicings, and a swing-based rhythmic foundation that fluctuates between laid-back ballads and high-tempo bebop progressions. Structurally, it maintains a deep semantic connection to blues and classical music while serving as the foundational bridge toward modern jazz fusion and soul-jazz styles.
