Jazz Piano-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Jazz piano is a multifaceted genre that emerged from the fusion of ragtime, blues, and classical music traditions in early 20th-century America. Centered on the acoustic piano as both a rhythmic and melodic engine, the genre is defined by complex harmonic structures, extensive improvisation, and a characteristic swing feel. Performances range from the percussive, high-tempo stride styles of the 1920s to the sophisticated, modal explorations of the post-bop era, maintaining a mood that shifts seamlessly between contemplative elegance and high-energy virtuosity. As a foundational pillar of the jazz idiom, it serves as a bridge between structured European composition and the fluid, expressive spontaneity of African-American musical heritage.
