Jump Up-events vanavond in Amsterdam

Jump up is an energetic subgenre of drum and bass that emerged in the mid-1990s UK rave scene as a more playful, dancefloor-oriented alternative to technical jungle. It is defined by its signature wobble basslines, which utilize low-frequency oscillators to create oscillating, synthetic textures paired with sharp, punchy drum patterns. The genre typically maintains a high tempo of around 170 to 175 BPM, favoring a simplified two-step rhythm that emphasizes physical movement and high-octane energy over complex syncopation. Semantically positioned between the grit of neurofunk and the accessibility of dancefloor DnB, jump up remains a staple of modern electronic festivals due to its aggressive yet catchy sonic profile.
