Manchester Indie-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Manchester Indie refers to the influential musical movement originating from Manchester, England, during the late 1970s and peak commercial success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Characterized by melodic, jangly guitar lines, prominent bass patterns, and often melancholic yet anthemic vocals, it evolved from the starkness of post-punk into the dance-infused Madchester scene. This genre maintains a moderate tempo with distinctive rhythmic grooves that bridge the gap between traditional indie rock and underground rave culture. Semantically rooted in alternative rock and Britpop, it reflects a gritty, working-class northern English identity that fundamentally shaped the global landscape of independent music through labels like Factory Records and bands like The Smiths.
