Nz Reggae-events in Amsterdam

NZ Reggae, also known as Aotearoa Reggae, emerged in the late 1970s following Bob Marley's influential visit to New Zealand, blending Jamaican roots reggae with local Māori and Pacific Island sensibilities. The genre features characteristic one drop rhythms, heavy basslines, and skanking guitars, frequently complemented by soulful vocal harmonies and brass arrangements. Tempos are typically relaxed, creating a laid-back and uplifting mood that often carries themes of social justice, cultural identity, and community. Semantically, it is a regional evolution of roots reggae that incorporates unique Polynesian melodic structures, distinguishing it from Caribbean counterparts while maintaining a strong rhythmic foundation in the classic reggae tradition.
