Old School Bassline-events in Amsterdam

Old school bassline, originating in the late 1990s and early 2000s in Northern England, particularly Sheffield, is a high-energy dance genre that evolved from speed garage and traditional UK garage. It is characterized by a distinctive 4x4 kick drum pattern, syncopated rhythms, and a heavy, melodic, warping electronic bassline often created through FM synthesis. The tempo typically ranges from 135 to 142 BPM, fostering a frantic yet infectious mood suitable for late-night club environments. Semantically, it bridges the gap between soulful garage and the more aggressive bassline house of the mid-2000s, frequently featuring pitched-up vocal samples, rhythmic stabs, or grime-inflected MCing to create its signature niche sound.
