Psychedelic Folk-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Psychedelic folk emerged in the mid-1960s as a fusion of traditional acoustic music and the experimental, mind-expanding sensibilities of the psychedelic era. This genre typically utilizes standard acoustic guitars and banjos layered with non-Western instruments like the sitar or tamboura, alongside studio-driven effects such as tape loops, phasing, and heavy reverb to create a surrealist soundscape. Rhythms are often loose, circular, or hypnotic, maintaining a moderate tempo that supports a dreamlike, introspective, and profoundly mystical mood throughout the performance. While it retains the core narrative focus of traditional folk, it incorporates the sonic exploration of psychedelic rock, resulting in an ethereal aesthetic that transitions seamlessly between pastoral tranquility and avant-garde experimentation.
