Psychedelic Rock-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Emerging in the mid-1960s from the intersection of blues-rock and folk, psychedelic rock sought to replicate or enhance mind-altering experiences through experimental sonic landscapes. Typical instrumentation features electric guitars heavily processed with fuzz, reverb, and backward tape loops, often accompanied by non-Western instruments like the sitar and elaborate keyboard textures. Rhythmically, the genre often moves away from standard pop structures into extended, improvisational jams with shifting tempos and modal melodies that create a dreamlike, expansive mood. Closely related to the counterculture movement, it served as a critical precursor to progressive rock and heavy metal while maintaining a semantic bridge between traditional rock and avant-garde experimentation.
