Rock Noise-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Noise rock is an abrasive subgenre of rock music that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s from the intersection of punk rock, No Wave, and industrial music. Characterized by its heavy use of dissonant electric guitars, extreme feedback, and distorted instrumentation, the genre prioritizes texture and sonic intensity over traditional melodic structures. Rhythms are frequently jagged or repetitive, underpinned by driving basslines and aggressive percussion, creating a mood that ranges from calculated tension to chaotic, unbridled aggression. As an underground precursor to grunge and experimental rock, noise rock challenges conventional pop aesthetics by embracing high-volume grit and non-traditional song forms, making it a foundational element of the avant-garde rock landscape.
