Rocksteady-concerten en liveshows in Amsterdam

Emerging in Jamaica during the mid-1960s, Rocksteady served as the pivotal bridge between the frantic pace of Ska and the eventual slow-burn of Reggae. Characterized by its relaxed tempo and prominent, melodic basslines, the genre shifted the musical focus away from big horn sections toward a more soulful, vocal-centric arrangement. Typical instrumentation includes electric guitar, bass, drums, and piano, often featuring romantic themes or social commentary delivered with smooth, gospel-influenced harmonies. This transitional style is defined by its steady, syncopated rhythm and the "one drop" drumming pattern, creating a laid-back yet infectious groove that remains a cornerstone of Caribbean musical identity.
