Russian Electronic-events in Amsterdam

Russian electronic music emerged from the late 20th-century transition between the Soviet synth-pop era and the global rise of techno and house. Characterized by a distinctive blend of vintage Soviet-era synthesizers like the Polivoks and modern digital production, the genre often reflects a gritty, industrial atmosphere rooted in post-Soviet urban landscapes. Rhythmically, it spans from steady four-to-the-floor techno to frantic breakbeats, maintaining a mood that frequently oscillates between cold melancholia and aggressive, high-energy euphoria. Semantically, it occupies a space between Western electronic dance music and localized avant-garde experiments, often incorporating elements of IDM, darkwave, and atmospheric ambient to create its unique sonic identity.
