Salsa International-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Salsa international represents a globalized evolution of the New York-born fusion of Cuban son montuno, mambo, and American jazz that emerged during the late 1960s. Characterized by a driving percussion section featuring congas, timbales, and bongos, the genre is anchored by the syncopated clave rhythm and sophisticated brass arrangements. Its tempo typically ranges from moderate to fast, fostering an energetic, celebratory mood designed for competitive social dancing and vibrant theatrical performance. While deeply rooted in Afro-Caribbean traditions, salsa international incorporates polished production values and harmonic influences from pop and soul, distinguishing it from more localized or folkloric precursors like traditional Cuban son.
