Southern Gothic-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Southern Gothic in music is an aesthetic and thematic subgenre, drawing heavily from the literary movement of the same name. It typically explores themes of decay, despair, the grotesque, and the macabre, often set against the backdrop of the American South. Musically, it blends elements of American folk, blues, country, and alternative rock, characterized by a dark, brooding atmosphere, melancholic melodies, and often raw or sparse instrumentation like acoustic guitars, banjos, and sometimes distorted electric guitars. The mood is generally somber and introspective, creating a sense of unease or tragic beauty, and it often features narrative-driven vocals.
