Zoomergaze-events deze maand in Amsterdam

Zoomergaze emerged in the late 2010s as a digital-native evolution of classic shoegaze, predominantly driven by Gen Z artists and internet subcultures. The genre is characterized by a blend of ethereal, wall-of-sound guitar textures layered over trap-influenced drum patterns or mid-tempo bedroom pop rhythms, creating a uniquely nostalgic yet modern sonic palette. Lyrically and tonally, it emphasizes themes of isolation, digital intimacy, and melancholic yearning, often utilizing heavy reverb and pitch-shifting effects to evoke a dreamlike atmosphere. As a bridge between 1990s alternative rock and contemporary electronic aesthetics, it maintains a strong semantic relationship with dreampop while incorporating the gritty, DIY production standards of modern indie-pop circles.
